Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what personal information Impact Legacy collects, why we collect it, how we look after it and the choices you have.
Last updated: September 2026
1. Who we are
Impact Legacy Magazine (“Impact Legacy”, “we”, “us”) is a publication of the Impact Institute for Directors & Corporate Governance (IIDCG). We publish the magazine and this website, impactlegacy.org. For questions about this policy, write to contact@impactlegacy.org.
2. What we collect
- Newsletter subscription. Your name, email address, the page or form you signed up from, the date and time, and a record that you agreed to receive our emails. We also keep a one-way scrambled (hashed) form of your internet address to help us prevent abuse.
- Contact, advertising and contributor forms. The details you type into the form (for example your name, email address, organisation, LinkedIn address, the topic of your enquiry or pitch, and your message).
- Emails you send us. Your email address and anything you choose to include.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our servers and security tools process technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages requested. We use this to keep the website secure, to fix problems and to understand how the site is used.
- Cookies. Our Cookie Policy explains the cookies and similar technologies we use.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and our content is not directed at them.
3. People we write about
Our journalism features people who have taken part in our interviews, profiles and series, or whose public work we report on. Profiles of participants are published with their agreement, and the information and photographs used come from the participants themselves or from public sources.
4. How and why we use your information
- To send you our newsletter and other emails you have asked for. We rely on your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
- To reply to your enquiries, consider your pitch, or discuss advertising and partnerships.
- To run, secure and improve the website and our services, including preventing spam and abuse.
- To meet legal obligations, and to protect our rights and those of others.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not send readers’ personal information to artificial-intelligence tools. Where we use AI to help prepare editorial material, it works only with our own published articles and public information (see our AI Use Policy).
5. Who we share it with
We share information only with people and services that help us run Impact Legacy, and only as far as they need it: our website hosting and security providers, our email-delivery services, and the platforms we publish to. They may only use it to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or to protect the safety and rights of others.
6. International transfers
Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where we can, we choose providers that protect personal information to a high standard.
7. How long we keep it
We keep newsletter subscriber details until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them; after that we keep only what we need to honour your request (for example, a note that you have unsubscribed). We keep enquiries and pitches for as long as needed to deal with them and for a reasonable period afterwards, and delete them when they are no longer needed. Technical logs are kept for a short time.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and withdraw your consent at any time. You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email. To exercise any right, write to contact@impactlegacy.org. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you may complain to your local data-protection authority.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including restricted access and protected connections. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Links to other websites
Our stories link to other websites and social platforms. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. Where a change is significant, we will make that clear on the website.
