The National Gallery in London has opened “Renoir and Love”, an exhibition devoted to the Impressionist painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir, which runs from 3 October 2026 to 31 January 2027, according to the gallery’s website. Inviting visitors to “fall in love with Renoir”, the gallery says the show explores the sun-dappled gardens and swirling dance halls of Paris through 40 paintings brought together from collections across the world.
A Loan From Paris
The gallery highlights Renoir’s “Bal au Moulin de la Galette” (1876), lent by the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, which it says is on display in the UK for the first time. The exhibition is organised by the Musée d’Orsay, the National Gallery and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the gallery names The Thompson Family Charitable Trust as its lead philanthropic supporter.
Visiting
According to the gallery’s listing, standard tickets cost £20 off-peak, from Sunday to Thursday, and £25 on Fridays and Saturdays and on all days in the first two weeks. Under-18s go free. Visitors planning a trip should check the gallery’s website for current booking details, as the information here reflects the page at the time of writing.
Why It Matters
Large loan exhibitions depend on partnerships between institutions, and this one is organised jointly by three museums, as the gallery describes it. For visitors, the practical significance is the chance to see a single painting that, by the gallery’s account, has not previously been shown in the UK, alongside the other works gathered for the show. The run extends from early October into late January, so it will be open across the autumn and winter months.
