Fraser and Neave Holdings Bhd (F&N) has appointed Tarang Gupta as its new group chief executive officer, effective 1 October 2026, the Malaysia-listed beverage and dairy conglomerate confirmed. Gupta succeeds Lim Yew Hoe, who retired from the role on 30 September after 12 years at the helm, according to Bernama and Malaysian business media.

A Veteran of Regional FMCG

Gupta, 49, had served as F&N’s chief executive-designate since July, allowing for a formal handover period. He brings more than two decades of experience in fast-moving consumer goods, most recently as managing director of Dutch Lady Milk Industries in Malaysia and Singapore, and previously as chief executive of Royal FrieslandCampina Philippines. His background spans dairy, nutrition and broader consumer categories across Asia and Africa. Gupta holds a Master of Business Administration from the Institute for Technology and Management in Bangalore and a Bachelor of Science in Hotel Management from the WelcomGroup Graduate School in India. In comments reported by Malaysian outlets, Lim said F&N was “well-positioned for its next phase of development,” while Gupta said he looked forward to working with the existing leadership team to strengthen the group’s capabilities and growth.

Continuity Amid Transition

F&N, whose brands span dairy, soft drinks and packaging across Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and other regional markets, has framed the leadership change as a planned succession rather than a response to any setback. The company said the transition period was designed to ensure operational continuity as Gupta takes on wider strategic responsibilities.

Why It Matters

Leadership changes at a conglomerate of F&N’s scale are closely watched across Southeast Asia’s consumer goods sector, both for signals about regional growth strategy and for what they say about talent movement between multinational dairy and FMCG players. Gupta’s appointment continues a trend of executives moving between major regional dairy groups, and his mandate will be watched for how F&N balances its legacy beverage business against newer growth categories.
