IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a Hotel Indigo in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, marking the group’s debut in the city, according to a press release dated 7 October 2026.

The company described the property as a 180-key lifestyle hotel owned by PT Raka Eka Makmur, with an expected opening in 2029.

The Planned Hotel

According to IHG, the hotel will have an all-day dining restaurant, a rooftop bar and terrace, a swimming pool, a fitness centre and a spa. It will also offer approximately 740 square metres of meeting and event space, including a ballroom and multiple meeting rooms.

Chris Anklin, Senior Director, Development, South East Asia & Korea at IHG Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are delighted to bring the Hotel Indigo brand to Yogyakarta, a destination renowned for its rich cultural heritage, creative energy and enduring appeal.” Ronny Pallar, President Director of PT Raka Eka Makmur, said: “We are pleased to partner with IHG to introduce Hotel Indigo to Yogyakarta.”

IHG in Indonesia

IHG said it currently operates 35 hotels across nine brands in Indonesia, with a further 13 properties in the pipeline. It operates three Hotel Indigo properties across the country, with a further six in the pipeline.

Why It Matters

The signing is a statement of intent rather than an opening: the hotel is not due until 2029, and the company’s figures describe a pipeline, not completed rooms. It does show a major international group extending a lifestyle brand into a city it has not previously operated in, with a local owner. Whether that pipeline converts on schedule is the measure to watch as the three existing and six planned Hotel Indigo properties in Indonesia take shape.
