The organisation behind The 50 Best Restaurants has published the 51 to 100 portion of its 2026 ranking. According to a press release issued from London on 21 October, the extended list spans 36 cities on six continents and is compiled from the votes of more than 1,100 restaurant experts. The organisers’ ceremony will take place in Lima, Peru, on 4 November, and they say it will be livestreamed.
Where the Restaurants Are
The release gives a regional breakdown of the 50 entries: 20 in Europe, 17 in Asia, six in North America, three in South America, two in Africa and two in the Middle East. Among the European names it lists are The Jane in Antwerp at No. 63, Arpège at No. 67, Cocina Hermanos Torres in Barcelona at No. 69, and three Berlin restaurants, Nobelhart & Schmutzig at No. 76, Coda at No. 82 and Tim Raue at No. 85.
In Mexico, the release names Alcalde in Guadalajara at No. 55, Huniik in Mérida at No. 79, Arca in Tulum at No. 87, Rosetta in Mexico City at No. 96 and Fauna in Valle de Guadalupe at No. 99, which it describes as a re-entry. South Africa has two entries, Fyn at No. 65 and Salsify at the Roundhouse at No. 71. The release also lists SingleThread in Healdsburg at No. 93 for the United States.
New Entries
The organisers say the list includes nine new entries from nine cities, although the release names only eight. Among those it names, the highest placed is Ling Long in Shanghai at No. 53. Nelita in São Paulo follows at No. 54, with Seroja in Singapore at No. 64, Eatanic Garden in Seoul at No. 72, FZN in Dubai at No. 88, Baan Tepa in Bangkok at No. 90, Lamdre in Beijing at No. 92 and Khufu’s in Giza at No. 97.
Rikki Tidball, Managing Director of Events for The 50, said: “This year’s extended list reflects the breadth and brilliance of global gastronomy.”
Why It Matters
Lists of this kind are widely followed in the restaurant trade, and the organisers present the extended list as a way to celebrate this year’s excellence and look ahead to a new generation of chefs. The 2026 breakdown suggests a spread across several regions, with Europe and Asia accounting for most of the entries and new names appearing in places such as Shanghai, Seoul, Dubai and Giza. Readers should keep in mind that, as the release describes it, the list reflects the votes of more than 1,100 restaurant experts, and that this release covers positions 51 to 100 only.
